Our Story

It all started in Europe, when Ross and Justine
Were travelling and touring all the sites to be seen

They thought, “We did free tours in Paris and Rome –
So why don’t we have free walking tours back home?!”

Inspired, they created I’m Free Tours to provide
An authentic tour experience with unbiased local guides

Then the word got out about these free tours with flair
And they expanded to Melbourne with more to share

Soon they built up a family of guides, all bright
With their own unique interests, passions and insight

With a global pandemic we shrank to just a few

And Justine left to work on the city anew

As we regrew, we received an interesting pitch

And we’re now also walking across the ditch

Meet us

Before you join us in real life.

After travelling in 2008 I helped start I’m Free to share my love of Sydney with visitors from near and far.

These days I look after more of the background operations, but I still love touring and swapping travel stories, whilst making sure you don’t miss out on seeing the bits of Sydney I love.

When I’m not working you’ll find me exploring some of the thousands of kilometres of Sydney’s coast and beaches, or trying a new beer in a new bar or brewery.

I love travelling, but I always love returning home to beautiful Sydney. I’ve spent months travelling Europe, lived in Krakow for 7 months, and just scratched the surface of Central and South America. But I still call Australia Home.

This is where I play cricket on boiling hot Saturdays, eat world-class pub-grub, drink world-class beer, and swim at world-class beaches. I’m constantly fascinated by our history and unique flora and fauna, and that’s why I started touring, to share it with the world.

After living in Europe for a few years, I was really excited to come back to my home city and share my love of beautiful Sydney with people from all over the world.

When I’m not touring, you can find me at the beach, playing soccer, enjoying a bushwalk or cooling off with a beer. I also love delving into our quirky history and catching a concert down at the Opera House.

I’m a man with too many passions, jobs and hobbies. I’ve worked as an actor in Australia and America, a foundry making bronze statues, a prop maker for shopping centres, and a factory making luxury plastic homewares.

My real passion though has always been people, cultures and stories. I love talking to everyone I meet to understand their different perspectives on the world, and I love talking about my beautiful city of Sydney.

In my spare time I’m an artist, a musician and an avid bushwalker.

I’m from the Blue Mountains, spending my childhood in its beautiful nature, before moving to Sydney in my late teens to study engineering at university.

An avid outdoor traveller, I have journeyed through much of the mountain landscapes of South America, Asia, Europe and New Zealand. I have also spent a year driving around Australia (the Big Lap), and I’ve lived in Germany.

I love learning about anything – and so really enjoy guiding people through Sydney; talking about fascinating history, icons, local tips and the amazing outdoor culture we foster here in Sydney.

Born and raised in the ranges of the Blue Mountains, completed the goal of seeing all of Australia’s 6 states and 2 territories in one year (almost!) I decided to return to Sydney so I could share my knowledge to all travellers who set their sights on adventuring Australia too.

I’m a lover of cheap eats, good walks and beautiful views and won’t be able to help myself from sharing the best of these to you.

From studying Korean, Japanese and travelling to most of Asia. I have also found myself exploring the strong Asian influences within Sydney’s CBD and believe you can find some of the best of these cuisines and cultures without having to step a foot out of the city.

Born and raised in the inner west of Sydney, I love Sydney and its expansive suburbs! After studying both Theatre and History I’m excited to share my love for history and the past and my knowledge of Sydney with its visitors!

I spend a lot of my spare time doing various theatrical projects, watching plays and musicals, visiting museums and talking someone’s ear off about history. I love a cute hidden bar, and a cheap but vibey dinner, as well as a cheeky dance.

I always love learning and sharing more about Sydney’s tramway history, and the unique history that makes Sydney, Sydney! I am a proud nonbinary lesbian who is also passionate about learning more and educating others about the unique queer history that exists here!
