We’re searching for enthusiastic Brisbane locals to join our team! Since 2009, I’m Free Tours has set the benchmark for local, story-led sightseeing city tours across Australia and New Zealand.

From Queen Street Mall across the CBD, our team works to give every guide the foundation to master vocal projection, build stage presence, and share deep historical insights.

Prior tourism experience isn’t required, but local knowledge and personal initiative are non-negotiable! We look for charismatic Brisbane locals who speak confidently in public, bring energy, and have the drive to learn historical content independently to pass the autditions involved in the interview process.
This is a casual, flexible position. Since our Brisbane walks start at set times from King George square, the role pairs brilliantly with university timetables, acting work, freelance projects, or other part-time commitments.

Our guides earn competitive compensation tied directly to their delivery on the ground. You receive a guaranteed base payment structured under Australian Fair Work guidelines, topped up by a potential share of guest contributions at the end of the tour. High-performing storytellers make a great hourly rate.

We are looking to expand to a team of 3-4 guides each hosting 2-3 walks weekly depending on their personal schedule, seasonal tourist spikes, extra private tours and roster availability.

Our selection pathway is candidate-driven. We provide you with comprehensive historical scripts and route layouts, and you take the lead in memorising and mastering the material. You’ll demonstrate your progress through live presentation checkpoints and practice evaluations before hosting your first solo walk.

Guiding involves standing and walking for roughly 3 hours per shift over a 3.5km CBD route. We operate in all weather conditions—we equip you with our official bright raincoat, so as long as you have good physical endurance, vocal projection, and sun protection, you’ll thrive!
